Manulife Singapore Launches First-in-Asia Gut Microbiome Screening Collaboration with AMILI

  • Manulife Singapore teams up with AMILI to offer personalised gut microbiome insights through an innovative gut microbiome screening.
  • Manulife customers with access to the service can benefit through personalised food and nutrition recommendations curated through insights on their gut microbiome profile.

10 Dec 2024 - Manulife Singapore has announced a collaboration with AMILI, Southeast Asia’s first gut microbiome insights company. This pioneering collaboration marks the first time this breakthrough technology will be available through a life insurer in Singapore, furthering Manulife’s commitment to helping customers lead longer, healthier, and better lives.

Through the collaboration, eligible Manulife customers can access a comprehensive gut microbiome screening, giving personalised insights into their gut health to help them make informed decisions about their overall well-being. The screening analyses trillions of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria in an individual’s gut, providing insights that can improve immunity, brain health, and optimise diet and nutrition choices to prevent lifestyle diseases. Details of the eligibility criteria and redemption method will be announced later.

"At Manulife Singapore, we are always looking ahead to how we can anticipate and address the evolving needs of our customers. This collaboration with AMILI exemplifies how we are combining innovation with personalised care, empowering our financial consultants to offer solutions that go beyond financial protection and truly enhance health outcomes for our customers," said Dr Khoo Kah Siang, CEO of Manulife Singapore. "By providing access to such advanced technology, we are reinforcing our commitment to our customers' long-term health and wellness."

Pioneering Gut Health Screening for Customers

AMILI’s Gut Microbiome Screening Test leverages the region’s largest multi-ethnic Asia gut microbiome database to deliver precise insights tailored to the Asian population. With the increasing demand for holistic health solutions, the test includes access to personalised recommendations that address a range of health concerns, from digestive health and immunity to mental well-being and chronic disease management.

"'Good health begins with gut health' as the saying goes. We see incredible potential in what the Singapore health minister describes as "predictive preventive care", to improve lives by personalising health insights based on the gut microbiome and other data," said Dr. Jeremy Lim, CEO and co-founder of AMILI. "Our collaboration with Manulife is a significant step towards making personalised screening more accessible, and we're excited to help customers better manage their health through science-backed insights and actionable recommendations."

Eligible customers will not only receive their test results, but will also have access to a complimentary session of report explanation by AMILI’s physicians, enabling them to take a holistic approach towards health improvement.

"As a life insurer, we are uniquely positioned to offer impactful health solutions that empower our customers to live healthier lives," said Harshal Shah, Chief Marketing Officer, Asia at Manulife. "AMILI's expertise lies in its ability to analyze the gut microbiome, providing detailed insights into the balance of good and bad bacteria. This enables tailored health recommendations and interventions. We are proud to be the first insurer in the market to provide this cutting-edge service to our customers, and this collaboration exemplifies our vision of transforming the customer experience through health innovation.”

This initiative is part of Manulife's ongoing commitment to integrating health and wellness into its insurance offerings. Manulife is dedicated to expanding access to AMILI’s services for a broader range of customers.
